Jacob Voelker, CNLP, has been hired as Garden Center Manager.
Jim Hornung, Jr., CSP, CLP, president of Elbers Landscape Service, Inc., announces that Jacob Voelker, CNLP, has been hired as Garden Center Manager. Voelker, who received an A.A.S. degree in Landscape Development from SUNY Cobleskill, will be in charge of the company’s Garden Center, located at 2918 Main Street in Buffalo. In addition to ordering stock for the center and maintaining the display space, Voelker will work with staff and consumers to find the right plants for every garden situation.
Before joining Elbers, Voelker was the Tree/Shrub Manager at Lockwoods Greenhouses & Farm in Hamburg, NY. He also worked in the Gardens Department at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY. He is a native of Dewittville, NY.
“I am bringing new and unique plants to Elbers’ garden center for Buffalo’s gardeners to try out,” says Voelker. “We’re here to help those who are just getting started, as well as seasoned gardeners who want ‘new and different ideas.’ We can help develop a plan and also implement it, as we are fully stocked.”
Elbers’ Garden Center is open Monday - Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Elbers Landscape Service, Inc. was started in 1919 by Henry H. Elbers, former director of the Buffalo Botanical Gardens. In 1920, he moved the company to its present location on Main Street in Buffalo. The Elbers family operated the business until 1980, when it was purchased by James E. Hornung, Sr., and his wife, Elizabeth. Mr. Hornung had been a member of the Elbers staff since 1972.
